Summary
We’re looking for an Engineering Project Manager to manage investment projects that support the supply of Aggregates and Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX). You’ll work closely with Operational Management, Finance, Procurement, Estates & Geology, National Accounts, Operational Excellence, contractors and regulators to ensure projects are safe, efficient and deliver long‑term value.
Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects, promoting a zero‑harm culture and ensuring full compliance with Tarmac HSE policies and all legislative requirements.
- Apply strong knowledge of CDM regulations and proactively manage the client/principal contractor relationship.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Support capability development through training, mentoring and coaching to ensure projects are designed for safe, efficient and low‑cost operation.
- Use project management and engineering expertise to identify cost‑saving opportunities and develop innovative solutions.
- Apply value engineering principles and ensure engineering best practice is followed across all project stages.
- Drive the implementation of best‑practice engineering solutions and ensure compliance with all standards and procedures.
- Deliver and manage area and regional action plans to support improved operational performance.
- Contribute to the delivery of strategic initiatives aimed at driving operational excellence across the business.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong project management skills and experience delivering engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Ability to drive change using lean or performance‑based approaches.
- Experience with contract placement and contractor management.
- Commercial awareness and strong financial understanding.
- Ability to manage complexity and competing priorities.
- Knowledge of construction materials, products and processes.
- IT literacy and ability to read technical drawings/CAD.
- Engineering degree or equivalent (desirable).
