Summary

BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for the public sector, supplying to a variety of clients across London, Hertfordshire, and surrounding areas.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Assistant to work in Esher and surrounding areas.


Duties and Responsibilities of Procurement Assistant:

• To support the procurement of goods, works, and services for the council, helping to achieve best value and enabling the delivery of services to residents.
• To assist the Procurement Business Partner in delivering efficient and effective procurement services while ensuring compliance with procurement regulations.
• To provide procurement support across multiple service areas within the council.
• To assist with procurement exercises for commonly purchased goods and services.
• To support procurement activities to ensure compliance with council procurement regulations and the Procurement Act 2023.
• To work with the council’s electronic tendering portal and contract management systems.
• To assist with maintaining the Contracts Register and ensuring transparency requirements are met.
• To draft outcome letters and ensure they are legally compliant and issued in a timely manner.
• To support the development of procurement procedures, processes, guidance notes, and documentation in line with best practice.
• To maintain up-to-date knowledge of procurement legislation, regulatory changes, and procurement technology.
• To carry out general administrative duties related to procurement projects and activities when required.


Working Hours:

• 36 hours per week
• Hybrid working pattern – 2 days remote and 3 days office-based


Requirements for Procurement Assistant:

• 5 GCSEs including Maths and English or equivalent experience.
• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, contracts administration, or a similar role.
• Understanding of procurement processes within the public sector is desirable.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Good computer literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation.
• Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
