SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Bolton
Role: SEN Teaching Assistant
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Term-Time only)
Working Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm
Pay: £450 - £550 per week (DOE)

Is a future career in Psychology, Therapy, Social Work or SEN Education a long-term ambition of yours?
Could you utilise your relevant experience in SEN or a related environment to assist vulnerable learners to access education?
We're looking for a caring, patient, and committed Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist school in Bolton, where your support will genuinely change a child's school experience.
This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys building relationships, creating calm and structured environments, and helping pupils feel confident, safe, and understood.
Due to the remote location, this role would be ideal for someone with own transport.
SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEN
- Support students with communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Implement strategies in line with EHCPs and individual support plans
- Use structured approaches such as visual timetables and sensory strategies
- Support behaviour management and promote positive learning outcomes
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff
- Help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
Experience, Training & Qualifications
- Psychology degree from a top-30 university is extremely advantageous
- Experience supporting children or young people with ASC (school or care setting)
- Understanding of SEN and inclusive education practices
- Calm, patient, and empathetic approach
- Relevant training (autism awareness, safeguarding) is desirable but not essential
Requirements
- Right to Work in the UK
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Two professional references
