Summary
The role holder will be responsibility for: Actively working with the Trade Unions and their nominated Safety Representatives ensuring effective two-way communication and consultation, and involvement in joint fire safety inspections and audits were appropriate Assurance reporting Attending and actively contributing towards the work of relevant groups, committees and meetings across the Group consistent with the scope of the position Attending and participating in the Group Fire safety Group as appropriate Be responsible for work allocation, and accountability of the fire safety teams performance targets including work plan objectives Collaborating with external organisations, Contractors and Consultants as appropriate Competent professional advice across core areas of fire safety retaining an up-to-date knowledge of statutory and mandatory legislation, national guidance documents and policy Coordinating freedom of information requests as appropriate Day to day management of the divisional/corporate Fire safety support team Development implementation and maintenance of risk driven audit programme with clear SMART focussed action plans, undertaking investigations and the provision of reports to give assurance to the Group Ensuring fire safety codes of practice, policies, procedure and standards are in place and updated accordingly on a regular basis Full line management of the fire team, subject matter experts, including Fire safety Training Implementation of a fire safety plan Liaising with outside agencies as required on Fire safety Manage the professional advisory service provided by the Fire Safety Department. Management and coordination of a programme of fire safety tours and inspection across the divisional and Corporate management team Monitor and report on Group Fire safety Leading and Leading indicators Monitor the Groups fire safety arrangements against a reconsider fire safety management system Monitoring and evaluation, via a programme of audits the fire safety performance of Divisions and Corporate Services, including their directly employed Contractors and Consultants, against an effective fire safety management system to ensure adequate fire safety resources, that control measures are being fully implemented and remain effective, and all works or services provided are carried out in accordance with the relevant statutory requirements, Codes of Practice, and Group policies and procedures Oversight and maintenance of the fire safety internet site Planning auditing and training programmes across the Group Preparing and providing reports to relevant groups, committees Providing advice and guidance on fire safety risk to Divisional and Corporate Directors, Heads of Department and relevant staff as appropriate Providing Fire safety advice primarily to Divisional and Corporate staff, but where necessary to the wider Trust, to assist with the resolution of fire safety related issues and assists with the implementation of agreed action plans, and develops Fire safety information resources via a Group Fire safety web site Providing operational support to completion of fire risk assessments, and the effective implementation of the necessary control measures, and use delegated Directorate authority to take prompt action with respect to unsafe conditions or equipment, including prohibition of activity or use where appropriate Supporting all Divisional and Corporate managers in their efforts to embed a fire safety culture Supporting with the development and maintenance of a programme of internal and external fire safety, training Supporting with the development of leading and lagging indicators and monitor performance against these, for continual improvement and management related risks Taking the lead in the development, promotion and maintenance of a safe working environment for patients, providing leadership and support to divisional and Corporate staff in relation to fire safety governance, risk management and compliance with fire safety legislation, ensuring the consistent implementation of Group policies and standards for fire safety To take immediate action related to the safety of the public, patients, colleagues, and others where an imminent safety concern exists Working with procurement to influence standards through the procurement process Working with Group legal team to analyse and investigate claims as appropriate
