As a Campus Support Officer, you will be at the heart of campus life — supporting students, staff and visitors while ensuring our campus operates safely, efficiently and professionally.

You will:

Maintain a strong, visible presence across campus, promoting positive behaviour and supporting student wellbeing.
Respond calmly and confidently to situations, using a solution-focused and restorative approach.
Help create an environment where students feel safe, supported and ready to succeed.
Play a key role in maintaining campus safety, security and operational standards.

This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same.

Hull College provides high-quality education & training for school leavers & adults, offering a wide range of vocational study programmes, Apprenticeships & degrees.

As one of the largest vocational institutes of its kind in the region, we have one focus - to create careers, not courses. While dedicated to delivering the very best experiences to our learners, we also extend the same commitment to our staff. We have worked hard to create an environment where all of our staff, no matter what their role, are empowered to inspire & support our vision to create better futures for the people of Hull.

Responsibilities of our Campus Support Officer:

Campus Safety & Student Support

Provide a visible presence around campus, promoting positive behaviour in line with College values.
Support staff with student organisation and conduct matters.
De-escalate conflict and manage incidents professionally and sensitively.
Encourage attendance and engagement in classes and enrichment activities.
Provide information, advice and guidance to students, referring to internal and external support services where appropriate.
Support safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare procedures at all times.
Assist with emergency procedures, including fire evacuations and welfare support.

Security & Compliance

Lock and unlock buildings in accordance with security procedures.
Act as a key holder and ensure access arrangements are managed safely.
Maintain awareness of campus activity and implement appropriate security measures.
Conduct fire alarm testing and ensure safety systems and signage are fully operational.
Support safe evacuation procedures in partnership with the Duty Manager.

Estates & Operational Support

Provide porterage services including moving equipment, furniture and parcels.
Carry out minor emergency repairs within competence and safety limits.
Report faults promptly to the Premises helpdesk.
Undertake reactive cleaning and ensure waste is disposed of appropriately.
Support grounds maintenance tasks, including gritting and external duties.
Assist the wider estates team to ensure smooth daily operations.

We are seeking individuals who are:

Calm, approachable and confident in engaging with young people.
Professional, practical and proactive.
Able to remain composed under pressure.
Committed to safeguarding and promoting positive behaviour.
Flexible and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
Team-oriented with a strong sense of responsibility.
