Summary
The Medical Education Fellowship with the Clinical Skills & National Repository teamis an exciting opportunity for a resident doctor with a strong interest in the future of postgraduate medical education and training focusing on the development of innovative clinical skills training courses (both cadaveric and non-cadaveric).
The National Repository Centre, based on City Campus supports members of the public who wish to donate their bodies to medical science and training. We co-ordinate a body donation programme to provide cadavers locally and throughout the UK for surgical and clinical skills training. This is a unique opportunity to work with our team and develop innovative cadaveric and clinical skills programmes that would benefit trainees across the region.
Fellowship is available for commencement in August 2026 and the post is for 12 months. The Fellowships provide 2-days per week (on average) to work as part of the Postgraduate Medical Education Department (PMED) to develop and deliver a selection of Clinical Skills and National Repository projects. You would be expected to contribute regularly to PMED clinical skills teaching sessions and be a regular member of the Clinical Skills Teaching Faculty.
Main responsibilities include:
• Develop an understanding around delivery of medical education projects using appropriate methodology
• Develop a sound understanding of current development and delivery of medical education programmes
• Develop, organise and/or deliver innovative clinical skills courses for doctors within the Trust
• Develop, organise and/or deliver innovative cadaveric courses for doctors within the Trust
• Work with TPDs and Heads of School to develop cadaveric courses to support the learning outcomes of postgraduate doctors in training in the East Midlands
• Gain experience of delivering education in a variety of settings
• Develop and review educational resources to support Clinical Skills and National Repository training
• Gain experience of delivering education in a variety of settings
• Contribute to the Clinical Skills Teaching Faculty on a range of courses, with an expectation that you contribute to teaching regularly.

The Postgraduate Medical Education Departmentis based in two Postgraduate Medical Education Centres – one on the QMC campus and one on the NCH campus. In addition the Clinical Skills Centre, National Repository Centre and Library are based at the NCH centre. The department has a staff consisting of an operational support team, educators and clinicians with an interest in medical education. We work closely with other multi- disciplinary educational groups in the Trust and have strong regional ties to NHSE.
