This is an ideal role for a technically strong, forward-thinking researcher who wants to drive meaningful innovation, champion ethical AI, and make a tangible difference to health and biomedical research.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will design and validate AI models across diverse domains, from clinical trials and pharmaceutical research to biomedical analytics, biomechanics, and sports science, while delivering high-impact demonstrators that showcase the power of AI in practice. Working closely with senior academics, students, and external partners, you will help embed AI into interdisciplinary projects, shape the School’s AI capability, and contribute to grant writing, publications, and international collaborations. You will also play a key role in building AI capacity through training workshops, student supervision, and active participation in academic life.

You will have hands-on experience in research teams, scholarly publications, conference presentations, and robust coding practices including version control and reproducible data pipelines. Proficiency in Python, ML frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, statistical analysis, and strong IT skills are essential. You will thrive under tight deadlines, handling sensitive data with confidentiality, and have a methodical, detail-oriented approach. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, combined with adaptability, initiative, and commitment to continuous learning. Public engagement experience is desirable.
