Summary

Primary SEND Teaching Assistant | Nurturing Every Milestone

Role: SEND Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Location: Tamworth & Surrounding Areas

Salary: £88.92 - £100 Per Day

Contract: Fixed Term

Can you be the calm in a child's busy school day?

For a child with additional needs, the jump into primary school can be overwhelming. We are seeking a patient, creative, and nurturing SEND Teaching Assistant to join a friendly primary school in Tamworth. You will be the "go-to" person for a child (or small group) with needs such as Autism (ASD), Speech and Language delays, or Global Developmental Delay (GDD).

This is your chance to use play, patience, and visual aids to turn a "can't do" into a "can do."

What's in it for you?
  • The "Lightbulb" Moments: Experience the pure joy of seeing a child finally master a skill they've been working on for weeks.
  • Work-Life Balance: Enjoy primary school hours (typically 8:30 am - 3:30 pm) with no weekend or evening work.
  • Weekly Pay: Competitive daily rates, strictly adhered to, and paid every Friday via Randstad.
  • Specialist Growth: Gain hands-on experience with EHCPs, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), and sensory regulation techniques.
The Ideal "Nurturer"

We want to hear from you if you:

  • Are Naturally Patient: You understand that primary-aged children need time, repetition, and a lot of encouragement.
  • Are Imaginative: You can turn a sensory bin, a storybook, or a game into a powerful learning tool.
  • Have Experience: Whether you've worked in a nursery, a school, or have personal experience with SEND, your empathy is what matters most.
  • Are a Team Player: You can work closely with the Class Teacher and the SENCO to create a safe, inclusive space.
Your Core Responsibilities
  • 1:1 Learning: Provide tailored support during phonics, maths, and play-based activities to ensure the curriculum is accessible.
  • Sensory Support: Use "Now & Next" boards and sensory breaks to help a child stay regulated and happy.
  • Social Development: Help children learn how to play, share, and communicate with their peers during break times.
  • Care & Wellbeing: Assist with personal care or mobility if required, ensuring the child feels dignified and safe.
