Job details
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Conservation Officer who can work as part of an established team conserving and enhancing the district’s heritage. With more than 2,200 listed buildings and 60 conservation areas, the historic environment in Huntingdonshire is rich and wide ranging, a successful candidate may find themselves dealing with a timber framed cottage one day and cold war architecture the next.
We are looking for someone who can work effectively with customers and colleagues on the management of the historic environment and the assessment of new development proposals. The varied workload will include providing specialist technical advice on planning applications, enforcement issues and policy development.
You will have a degree or equivalent in Conservation or a related discipline and have extensive experience in assessing the impact of proposed development on various heritage assets, IHBC accreditation is desirable.
The post is permanent and full-time, 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid role and would involve twice-weekly attendance at the office and on-site, combined with the opportunity for home working. You may be required on occasion to work outside normal office hours in accordance with the needs of the service.
An offer of employment is conditional upon having the right to work in the UK. HDC does not hold a Sponsorship Licence and is unable to provide a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) or take over sponsorship for any role.
