Summary

This role is only available on a 0.6FTE, as part of a job share.

This role sit within the Gambling and Lotteries team, which is responsible for gambling and lotteries policy across Great Britain. Our excellent team of ~30 people work on some of the most challenging policy and delivery priorities in the department.

Across the team our work includes:

  • Sponsorship of the Gambling Commission and Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB).
  • Working on a range of gambling reforms, including reducing gambling harm for vulnerable people and protecting children and young people.
  • Ensuring the National Lottery continues to thrive and transform our communities having raised over £50bn for the sports, arts, heritage and community sectors in the UK.
  • Leading on horse and greyhound racing policy, charity lotteries and free prize draws - traditional policy making to monitoring innovative new markets.
  • Ensuring our regulatory frameworks are fit for purpose by considering how changes in markets, technology and customer behaviour.
  • Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders, including the Minister for Gambling, the Gambling Commission, lived experience groups and industry.

The Gambling and Lotteries team sits within the Sport and Gambling Directorate which is responsible for all aspects of Government sport and gambling policy.

This is a part-time role delivering on exciting and challenging areas of gambling policy. The role forms part of a job-share with responsibility for a team of three overseeing sponsorship of the Gambling Commission, the Horserace Betting Levy Board and policy ownership for horse and greyhound racing.

Key deliverables/work in the coming months includes -

  • Delivering a review of the fees structure for the Gambling Commission.
  • Driving forward key policy work and supporting the sector on key issues facing greyhound and horse racing.
  • Ensuring the best standard of public body sponsorship.

Given the high profile nature of this work, the role involves close working with DCMS Seniors and Ministers.
