Work base: Coed Pella / Hybrid

Make a visible difference to Conwy’s highways, communities, and resilience.

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Drainage Maintenance Officer to help keep Conwy moving. You will play a vital role in ensuring our drainage assets are safe, reliable, and performing effectively — protecting our communities from flooding, supporting our highway network, and contributing to a resilient, well-maintained environment.

If you thrive outdoors, enjoy problem solving, and want a role where every day brings new challenges, this could be the perfect next step.

What you’ll be doing

In this varied and hands-on role, you will:

• Carry out county-wide inspections and condition surveys of gullies, culverts, trash screens and other drainage assets.
• Lead the management of the Council’s gully maintenance contract, including contractor supervision and budget oversight.
• Supervise in-house operatives delivering cleansing and drainage maintenance activities.
• Organise reactive and planned drainage works, including traffic management where required.
• Undertake pre- and post storm audits and support the wider service with flood investigations.
• Maintain accurate records, asset data and evidence to support maintenance planning and service improvement.
• Respond to public enquiries, investigate localised flooding issues, and work closely with landowners, councillors and community stakeholders.
• Use CCTV drainage camera equipment when required.
• Participate in winter maintenance and emergency response rotas.
• Deputise for the Assistant Area Manager Technical when needed.

Every day will be different, and you’ll have a real opportunity to shape how the service operates and responds.
