Summary

Applications from doctors with any speciality background are welcomed, at either junior or senior tier. There is no requirement to join an on-call rota. However, the post-holder will be expected to provide some clinical support around any teaching commitments, in particular during periods of student absence in the organisation (eg Christmas and summer holidays) or at times of extreme pressure on the Trust The post is designed to support undergraduate and postgraduate teaching. Post holders will teach medical students in both the hospital and university settings and will have the opportunity to deliver teaching to doctors in training. As a result, our education fellows will be involved in teaching a broad range of topics across both universities and at postgraduate level, requiring high levels of flexibility and adaptability. Medical student teaching varies daily, from bedside teaching for Phase I students through to revision for final year students. This teaching encompasses small group workshops, lectures and simulation based education amongst others. All teaching materials are provided however development of resources is ongoing throughout the academic year. The post-holder will need to be able to deliver both planned teaching sessions and also be adaptable to short notice changes to their diary, eg at times of high pressure in the department, sickness of colleagues, or during student revision and exam periods.
