About the Role

This is a full-time, high-responsibility position designed for a dedicated individual to join a school's examination team. Starting after the Easter break, the role centers on the implementation of strict national assessment protocols. The successful candidate will be responsible for the integrity of the examination process, from the initial setting up of the hall to the final secure collection of scripts. This role requires a person who can remain vigilant and professional, ensuring that every student is given an equal, distraction-free environment to showcase their learning.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous invigilation experience (ideally) or training can be provided
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Excellent spoken English to ensure instructions are understood by all.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Conflict De-escalation: Handling any student distress or disruption with minimal fuss.
  • Team Integration: Working effectively alongside a large team of permanent and temporary staff.

Core Responsibilities

  • Strict Invigilation: Vigilantly monitoring students to ensure no unauthorised materials or communications are present.
  • Protocol Adherence: Following regulations with absolute precision.
  • Paper Security: Overseeing the safe storage, distribution, and collection of all examination papers.
  • Candidate Support: Guiding students to their seats and providing authorised assistance where necessary.
  • Room Maintenance: Ensuring the exam environment meets all health, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Formal Announcements: Reading the official starting and ending scripts clearly to the entire assembly.
  • Accurate Recording: Maintaining detailed logs of any incidents, late arrivals, or bathroom breaks.
  • Time Monitoring: Managing the official clock and ensuring students are aware of time intervals.
  • Post-Exam Logistics: Sorting scripts into alphabetical or candidate-number order for immediate dispatch.
  • Emergency Oversight: Leading the safe and silent evacuation of the hall should an alarm sound.
