CAMPUS SUPPORT SERVICES
DAYTIME CAMPUS SUPPORT OFFICER (2 POSTS)
Grade 4 £25,804 - £28,778 pa
• Main Campus, Bedford House, Oxford Street, Liverpool.
• Starting salary: £25,804 per annum.
• Monday to Friday, working between 7 am–7 pm.
• 26 days annual leave + 6 Christmas closure days.
• Family-friendly policies and “Good”-rated on-site nursery.
• Full clean driving licence required (no HGV/PSV).
• NVQ Level 2 Security Operative training provided, plus further NVQ/degree opportunities.
Our aim is to ensure we have a welcoming university community where people can safely study, work and live. You will deliver a comprehensive service for everyone who uses our campus, helping to maintain a safe, friendly and secure environment.
You will work in the control room, handling both emergency and non‑emergency calls, and monitoring CCTV, car park systems and alerts via the SafeZone app. Each call is managed with care and professionalism, and may involve individuals who are distressed or require additional support. It is important to remain calm, clear‑headed and professional at all times, and to record all incidents accurately using computer systems. During a single shift, you may, for example, support a person reporting a crime on one call and assist a student experiencing difficulties with university life on the next.
You will also:
• Patrol a large city-centre campus, halls of residence and a remote veterinary teaching campus.
• Act as a visible, approachable and proactive presence, offering advice, reassurance and assistance to all students, staff and visitors.
• Respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, gather intelligence and continually assess risk and vulnerability.
• Be a motivated team player who thrives on variety and challenge. Strong communicator who builds rapport, shows diplomacy and remains professional under pressure. Decisive first responder with compassion for safety/welfare issues. No prior security experience needed—we provide full training. Focus on attitude, service excellence and teamwork.
Submit complete online applications only. Shortlisted candidates attend an assessment day: interview, role-play and written exercise to showcase skills fairly.
Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We are committed to enhancing a workforce as diverse as our community and particularly encourage applicants who are of minoritised genders and ethnic backgrounds, living with a disability, and/or are members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
