Multi-Skilled Building Services Engineer

Shift Pattern | Commercial / Industrial Site

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Multi-Skilled BuildingServices Engineer to join our on-site engineering team. Working on a shift basis, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and optimisation of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) building services across a modern commercial/industrial environment.

The Role

As part of adedicated site team, you will:

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks within contractual timescales.
  • Undertake inspection, fault finding, repair, and maintenance on a wide range of M&E and building services equipment including:
    • Heating boilers
    • Pumps and motors
    • Fan coil units and air handling units
    • Compressed air systems
    • Plumbing and sanitary ware
    • Fire doors
    • PSSR vessels
    • BMS systems
  • Provide safe isolations and manage high-risk activities under the Permit to Work (PTW) system.
  • Permit and monitor contractors, ensuring safe systems of work are followed.
  • Work in line with Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Use CMMS systems (Maximo) via handheld device to record works accurately and to a high standard.
  • Support plant optimisation and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and report concerns.
  • Assist with site documentation and administration systems.

  • Report hazards, service-affecting issues, accidents, and unsafe situations immediately.
  • Use all provided PPE and safety equipment correctly.
  • Participate in investigations, audits, and root cause analyses.
  • Attend and complete required training (including internal learning platforms).
  • Never act in a way that endangers yourself or others.

About You

You will have:

  • Level 3 City & Guilds qualification in Building Services (or equivalent).
  • IOSH Passport or CSCS Card.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in building services / plant engineering.
  • Strong all-round knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Good understanding of CDM Regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong IT literacy and numerical skills.

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Previous appointment as Authorised Person (AP) or Competent Person (CP) in disciplines such as:
    • Low Voltage (LV)
    • Confined Spaces
    • Working at Height
