What You’ll Be Doing
As a key member of our Operations Team, you’ll play a critical role in the safe and efficient running of the plant. Working both in the field and alongside the Control Room, you’ll be responsible for keeping our production processes stable, compliant, and optimised.
Your day-to-day activities will include (but aren’t limited to):
- Monitoring automated performance of the pre-heater, kiln feeder, rotary kiln burner, calciner, exhaust gases, emissions and cooler processes
- Adjusting and optimising the production process to maintain output and quality within specification
- Supporting start-ups, shutdowns, and responding to operational issues
- Conducting field inspections, troubleshooting blockages, housekeeping, and supporting general maintenance
- Entering and validating operational and production data in plant software systems
- Reporting any incidents, abnormalities or deviations through the correct channels
- Reviewing equipment conditions against job plans and operational standards
- Ensuring Tarmac’s strict Health, Safety & Environmental requirements are met at all times
- Maintaining high housekeeping standards across working areas
- Ensuring raw materials and additives are available in the right quantities at the correct locations
- Operating mobile plant (e.g., loaders, shovels, dumpers, telehandlers) where required — valid NPORS/CPCS or equivalent tickets essential

What You’ll Need to Succeed
You bring solid technical capability in:
- Field operations & equipment monitoring
- Supporting plant start-up, shutdown, and steady‑state operations
- Raw material and fuel handling
- Effective communication and shift coordination
- Safe operation of mobile plant
Experience & Background
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, heavy plant, or process‑related operations
- Valid mobile plant licences (NPORS, CPCS, or equivalent) where applicable
- Comfort working in a 24/7 shift‑based environment
- Proven experience following strict safety protocols and operating within a regulated environment
- Educated to a bachelor’s degree level, preferably in a business, engineering, or technical discipline
- 3–5 years of professional experience, ideally with demonstrable experience in an analytical or quantitative role, preferably within the energy, process, or heavy industrial sectors
