SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Somerset
Hours: 8:45am – 3:15pm
Contract Type: Short-Term Supply (Immediate Start)

About the Role

Everest Recruitment and Services Ltd is currently recruiting for a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to support a primary school in Somerset.

This is an urgent supply position supporting pupils with additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide tailored support, ensuring pupils can access learning in a safe, structured and inclusive environment.


Key Responsibilities
• Provide 1:1 or small group SEN support
• Support pupils with EHCPs and additional learning needs
• Assist children with autism, ADHD, SEMH or other SEND needs
• Implement behaviour and emotional regulation strategies
• Adapt learning resources under teacher guidance
• Promote inclusion and engagement within the classroom
• Monitor and report on pupil progress
• Uphold safeguarding and school policies


Candidate Requirements
• Previous experience working with children with SEN (school-based preferred)
• Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive practices
• Calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Flexible and reliable

You must have:
• Enhanced DBS (on the Update Service preferred)
• Right to work in the UK
• Two recent professional references
