We are seeking two dedicated and resilient Youth Re-engagement Mentors to support young people who are struggling to attend and thrive in school.
This is a relationship-first role requiring you to meet students where they are-starting in the family home and community-to rebuild trust and motivation.
What You Will DoYou will serve as a positive role model, providing intensive, hands-on support to help young people reconnect with education:
- Extensive Outreach: Provide extensive support to facilitate re-engagement with education, starting with outreach in the family home and local community.
- Mentorship & Emotional Support: Build trusting relationships and provide emotional support to young people with complex needs and challenging home circumstances.
- Positive Development: Mentor young people to achieve positive outcomes, helping them develop healthy lifestyles, build positive relationships, and make responsible choices.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow all safeguarding policies and risk assessments, maintain accurate record keeping, and contribute to the safeguarding of vulnerable young people.
- Restorative Practice: Utilize restorative approaches when dealing with challenging situations to encourage accountability and resolution.
The ideal candidate is resilient, creative, and experienced in navigating complex family dynamics:
- Experience (Essential): Proven experience working with hard-to-reach young people and families with complex needs.
- Resilience & Composure: Able to deal with challenging behaviour, stay calm under pressure, and maintain a resilient, positive approach.
- Adaptability & Innovation: Demonstrate the ability to be highly responsive, creative, and innovative with tailored interventions while effectively managing risk in the community.
- Collaboration: Experienced in forming positive working relationships with a variety of professional partners (e.g., Social Workers, School SENCOs).
- Child's Voice: Possess knowledge and experience of the importance of gathering and utilizing the child's voice in planning interventions.
- Driving: Must hold a valid UK driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle for outreach duties.
