Graduate Unqualified Teacher

Location: Westminster, Central London
Salary: £28,500 – £34,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full-Time | Long-Term | Teacher Training Pathway Available
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a highly academic graduate considering a career in teaching but want meaningful classroom experience before committing to a PGCE or salaried training route?

Would you value the opportunity to take real responsibility for delivering lessons in a supportive, high-performing Westminster secondary school?

KPI Education are partnering with an ambitious and academically driven secondary school in Westminster to appoint a confident and capable Unqualified Teacher in a core subject area.

This role is designed specifically for graduates who are serious about entering the profession and want genuine teaching experience — not just classroom support.

About the School

This well-regarded Westminster secondary school has a strong culture of high expectations, excellent behaviour systems and clear academic ambition. The leadership team are committed to developing future teachers and regularly support high-performing graduates into formal teacher training programmes.

You will be joining a collaborative department with structured schemes of work, strong mentoring and a clear progression pathway.

The Role

As an Unqualified Teacher, you will:

• Plan and deliver lessons within your subject specialism (with guidance and structured schemes of work)
• Take responsibility for your own classes across KS3 and KS4
• Assess, monitor and track pupil progress
• Contribute to departmental planning and intervention strategies
• Develop behaviour management strategies and classroom presence
• Work closely with an experienced mentor teacher
• Core subject graduates are particularly encouraged to apply, including:
• English
• Mathematics
• Science (Biology, Chemistry or Physics)
• Humanities (History/Geography)
• Modern Foreign Languages

This is a genuine teaching role, offering invaluable preparation for PGCE, Schools Direct or salaried teacher training routes.

Who We’re Looking For

• A First-Class or strong 2:1 degree from a Russell Group or Top 30 university
• Strong A-Level and GCSE results, particularly in your subject specialism
• A clear intention to pursue teacher training in the future
• Confidence, resilience and strong communication skills
• The ability to command a classroom and build positive relationships
• Prior tutoring, mentoring or school experience desirable but not essential

This role would particularly suit graduates who are academically strong, reflective and motivated to test themselves in a real teaching capacity before committing to formal training.

Why Apply?

• £28,500 – £34,000 salary
• Full teaching timetable and real classroom responsibility
• Structured mentoring from experienced teachers
• Clear pathway into salaried teacher training
• Outstanding experience for aspiring educators
• Ongoing support from KPI Education

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks and satisfactory references.

If you are a high-achieving graduate ready to step into the classroom and explore a career in teaching, apply now or contact Ryan at KPI Education for a confidential discussion.
