We are supporting one of our clients seeking an exceptional Registered Children's Home Manager to lead the launch of a brand-new, purpose-built children's home in Bicester. This is a unique opportunity to shape a service from its very beginning, establishing a nurturing, trauma-informed environment for children and young people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs.
Our client is a newly established provider with a clear vision: to create a safe, stable home where children feel valued, achieve their potential and thrive. As the founding Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the culture, standards and future growth of the organisation, with genuine progression opportunities to more senior roles as the company expands.
You will lead a holistic, person-centred service promoting emotional wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes, supported by a range of wellbeing, physical and sensory-based activities tailored to individual needs.
The Role
Reporting to the Responsible Individual, you will take full ownership of the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading on the establishment of the home, including the statement of purpose, policies, procedures and recruitment
Registering with Ofsted and maintaining full regulatory compliance
Managing the home day-to-day in line with the Children's Home Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards
Ensuring the health, education and emotional needs of every child are met
Coaching, supporting and developing staff through supervision and performance management
Managing budgets, resources and rotas effectively
Overseeing care planning, EHCP-linked outcomes and individual support strategies
Building strong relationships with families, education providers, health professionals and local authorities
Maintaining regulatory reporting, including Reg 44/45, notifications to Ofsted and internal audits
Participating in the on-call rota
About You
You are an experienced, values-driven leader with specialist knowledge of supporting children with learning disabilities. You thrive on challenge and are excited by the prospect of building a service from the ground up.
Essential requirements:
Minimum 3+ years' experience as a Registered Manager in a children's residential setting
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (essential)
Level 3 Diploma or above in Residential Childcare (essential)
Proven experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and learning disabilities
Strong understanding of autism, learning disabilities and complex needs
Ability to complete a Statement of Purpose that meets Ofsted approval
In-depth knowledge of Ofsted regulations and the Social Care Common Inspection Framework (SCCIF)
Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
Desirable experience:
Previous experience establishing a children's home from concept to Ofsted approval
Senior leadership experience within an SEN educational provision
Knowledge of positive behaviour support, communication strategies (e.g. PECS, Makaton) and sensory-informed practice
Enhanced DBS registered with the update service
