Role Overview:
Millwall Football Club is seeking an experienced Facilities Operative to join our team at one of London's leading Championship clubs. Working closely with the Facilities Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our world-class facilities across the full business portfolio
In this varied and hands-on role, you will be responsible for a broad range of maintenance activities including repairs, inspections, plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating, routine upkeep, and planned improvement works. You will operate across all three of our sites — The Den, Calmont Road Training Ground, and Well Hall Academy — ensuring each environment is safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose
We are looking for someone with proven practical skills, a proactive attitude, and the ability to manage their own workload effectively across multiple locations
Key Responsibilities:
The role includes, but is not limited to:
Undertake general maintenance for all our facilities including The Den stadium, training ground and the Academy
Undertake painting works including surface preparation, removal of existing coatings, and appropriate protection of surrounding areas prior to application.
Undertake plumbing work, such as fixing leaks, unblocking drains, gutters, shower fitting and more
Preparation of the facilities for all home matches
Regular checks and repairs on lights, toilets seats, broken chairs
Completing work in accordance with the Millwall Football club standards and ensuring compliance with the relevant legislation and industry best practice
Working to operational procedures, safe working practices and Health and Safety procedures
Matchday support to the Head of Facilities and maintenance colleagues on matchdays
Coordinated with external contractors and club staff across various sites
Building compliance duties
Ensure maintenance records and inspections as required by the Club
Testing, maintenance and compliance of safety systems (emergency lighting, PA, access control and CCTV)
Key holder of the building and at the end of day securing the building
To respond to any fire alarm, intruder alarm activations outside the business hours (when required)
Matchday & Events
Liaise with other departments to ensure safe Stadium operations
Test all safety systems prior to events
Liaise with Head of Facilities//Safety Officer to ensure Stadium health and safety compliance pre-event
To complete 72 hours, 48 hours pre-event safety checks (PA Systems, lighting, etc)
Liaise with the Head of Facilities/Safety Officer during events to ensure smooth running of event
General Club Accountabilities
To ensure compliance with all relevant club policies, including safeguarding, health and safety policies
To build and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally, always maintaining a professional image when representing the club
To always maintain a flexible approach to work

Essential Requirements / Qualifications:
A sound knowledge of basic building, plumbing & maintenance skills
The ability to use a range of manual and power tools in a safe and operate manner
Experience working in a
Worked as part of a team alongside other trades/professionals to complete tasks/projects
Desired Requirements / Qualifications:
City & Guilds / NVQ Level 2 qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience (not essential)
Able to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
Remain calm under pressure
Desire for continuous personal improvement
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work unsupervised and unassisted
Able to manage time well and meet deadlines
Show good attention to detail
Complete maintenance projects to a very high standard
