Summary
About the role
This role is about managing a team of People Team Managers as well as leading our people routines in the Distribution Centre to create a great place to work.
- Lead and manage the Distribution Warehouse and Transport People Team Managers. Ensure that both Warehouse and Transport Team Managers receive the same service level from your Warehouse and Transport People Team Managers across all shifts.
- Lead the overall Distribution Centre colleague experience, ensuring everyone has access to excellent facilities, tools and training/development opportunities.
- Lead the Distribution Centre payroll routines, ensuring we pay every colleague accurately and on time and routines are followed.
- Lead the attendance process in the Distribution Centre.
- Be a key part of the lead team in the Distribution Centre, providing people insight to help them make the right decisions for their shifts/departments.
- Work closely with the Planning Manager and Lead Transport Manager to understand the skill and resource requirements needed, working internally and externally locally to build a local resourcing & retention strategy for the Distribution Centre.
You will be responsible for
Leading people processes and policies in the Distribution Centre by:
- Leading, inspiring and managing a team of People Team Managers who provide a professional service to our colleagues and management team.
- Partnering with the recruitment hub to ensure the candidate experience in the Distribution Centre is excellent and we have a consistent approach to vacancy management on each shift/department as well as being clear on the future opportunities and how we can approach these together.
- Networking locally with educational establishments, job centre, agency etc to ensure can attract and retain diverse talent.
- Work closely with the Planning Manager to ensure flexible working requests or adjustments made for colleagues are seamlessly implemented to support attendance and culture.
- Leading the culture of flexible working in the Distribution Centre, coaching Managers on the benefits of this.
- Leading right to work in the Distribution Centre, ensuring we meet our legal obligations and Tesco policy is always adhered to.
- Establishing and maintaining a close partnership with the Colleague Relations Partner, ensuring the team are trained to deliver their roles, impartiality is maintained and we manage colleague relations issues effectively at all times.
- Establishing and maintaining a close partnership with the People Partner, understanding their unique role with talent, culture and capability.
- Leading people impacting change in the Distribution Centre with the wider Lead team.
- Understanding the local labour market, using this insight to shape the local recruitment & retention strategy, liaising with the central recruitment teams as required.
- Ensuring colleagues receive the best on-going training at the right time to develop their skills, supporting a team who are multiskilled to deliver for our customers.
- Offering advice, guidance and coaching to Managers where required on all people processes, policies, site agreement and routines.
- Executing informal and formal meetings as part of our grievance, discipline, appeals & protector line/complaints process.
- Lead the Distribution Centres wage routines, ensuring all colleagues are paid accurately and on time.
- Lead all people communication in the Distribution Centre to ensure colleague engagement and understanding.
- Reviewing our people data/insight for the Distribution Centre to look at improvement areas and celebrate success.
- Developing own operational and leadership skills, actively seeking feedback.
- Following our Business Code of Conduct and General Data Protection Regulations, always acting with integrity and due diligence.
