Summary
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Night Support Worker to provide high-quality care during overnight shifts. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents in a care home or assisted living environment. This role requires a caring attitude, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle medical and behavioural needs with professionalism. The Night Support Worker plays a vital part in delivering personalised care, supporting residents with their daily routines, and maintaining a safe environment throughout the night.
Responsibilities
Monitor residents' health and safety throughout the night, responding promptly to any emergencies or concerns.
Assist with personal care tasks such as toileting, mobility, and hygiene while respecting residents’ dignity and privacy.
Administer medication in accordance with prescribed care plans and document all medication-related activities accurately.
Support residents with meal preparation if required, ensuring nutritional needs are met during overnight hours.
Manage behaviour effectively, including dementia or Alzheimer's-related behaviours, using appropriate de-escalation techniques.
Keep detailed records of residents’ conditions, incidents, and care provided during the shift.
Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and case management.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Provide emotional support to residents experiencing distress or behavioural challenges during the night.
Assist with light housekeeping duties as needed to uphold hygiene standards within the care setting.
Qualifications
Previous experience in nursing home, dementia care, or home care settings is highly desirable.
Certification in first aid is preferred; ongoing training will be provided where necessary.
Knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration procedures is advantageous.
Experience in caring for individuals with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia is beneficial.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently during night shifts.
Valid driving licence is an advantage for roles requiring travel between locations or community outings.
