Summary
Ideally, we’re looking for a qualified, experienced Development Management Officer, however consideration will be given to applicants working within the built environment, with experience / qualifications in architecture, conservation or the built heritage.
The post offers a range of diverse professional challenges but also the ability to influence the future shape of communities across the County. Being an integral part of the Council’s ambition of developing and improving the quality of life and opportunities for residents, the Corporate importance of the service is recognised. We will expect you to be creative, innovative and able to find solutions.
On a day to day basis you will:
- Assist in the preparation and provision of a professional planning service, by sensitively managing land usage and development in the County.
- Process applications for planning permission.
- Undertake the efficient and effective investigation of breaches of planning control and legislation within the County and utilise appropriate enforcement interventions as necessary.
We are looking to recruit an individual with:
- A degree or equivalent in Town and Country Planning or related discipline.
- A good understanding of permitted development rights and experience of dealing with a variety of planning applications and enforcement cases.
- An ability to communicate impartially and effectively with a wide range of people at various levels.
- An ability to work with limited supervision and to work to tight deadlines.
- A strong commitment to providing a high quality service to the public and strong commitment to customer satisfaction.
The post requires a degree of fluency in the Welsh language. Please note that a successful applicant without the required Welsh language skill will be fully supported to reach the required standard within two years of appointment.
