We deliver safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led domiciliary care services within rural communities.

The Health Care Assistant will deliver person-centred domiciliary care to adults within their own homes in CA10 3UJ and surrounding rural Penrith areas near Morland.

Care is delivered in accordance with:

• Individual Care Plans
• Risk Assessments and Moving & Handling plans
• Medication Administration Records (MAR)
• Local Authority commissioned care packages
• Provider policies and procedures

The role promotes independence, dignity, safety, wellbeing and inclusion in line with strength-based practice.

A. Personal Care Delivery

• Support with washing, bathing, dressing and grooming
• Toileting and continence support (including catheter/stoma care where trained)
• Safe moving and handling in line with risk assessments
• Medication prompting or administration (as trained and authorised)
• Nutritional support, hydration monitoring and meal preparation
• Domestic support as outlined within commissioned care packages

B. Complex and Specialist Support (Where Commissioned)

• Dementia care support
• Physical frailty and mobility support
• End-of-life / palliative care (where required)
• Learning disability support
• Managing behaviours that challenge using positive behaviour support principles

C. Safeguarding and Risk Management

• Immediate reporting of safeguarding concerns
• Adherence to Cumbria Safeguarding Adults procedures
• Infection prevention and control compliance
• Accurate and timely electronic care documentation
• Maintenance of confidentiality and GDPR compliance

This role involves lone working within service users’ homes across rural Penrith (CA10 3UJ) and surrounding villages near Morland.

Due to rural geography and limited public transport infrastructure:

• Travel between service users is required
• A full UK driving licence is highly desirable
• Access to a vehicle is strongly recommended

Scheduling will consider travel time in accordance with commissioning standards.

• Hourly Rate: £13.45 per hour
• Pension contributions in line with statutory requirements
• Paid induction and mandatory training
• Ongoing supervision and competency assessments
• Annual appraisal
• Uniform and identification badge provided

Essential Requirements:

• Right to work in the UK
• Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
• Understanding of person-centred care
• Ability to follow care plans and risk assessments
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to safeguarding and dignity in care

Desirable:

• Previous domiciliary care experience
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
• Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle
