Summary

Appointed Person - Lifting Operations
HOURS:40 Hours
LOCATION: Manchester (UK Wide travel and some overnight stays required)
SALARY: £40,000 - £48,000 plus benefits

Your new role

  • Take full ownership of ensuring that lifting operations are planned and executed safely, efficiently and in line with legislation and industry best practice.
  • Plan lifting operations from end to end, ensuring correct sequencing and safe execution.
  • Produce detailed
    risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for each lifting activity.
  • Select suitable lifting equipment, materials and competent personnel for each lift.
  • Supervise and monitor lifting activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations at all stages.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience as an Appointed Person, including producing lift plans and risk assessments.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to liaise across multiple teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple lifting operations simultaneously while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Proactive, solution‑focused mindset with strong organisational capability.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Experience in industrial or telecoms lifting operations environments.
  • Demonstrable understanding of lifting legislation and industry practice (e.g., LOLER, BS 7121).
