Summary

£22.00 per hour (includes night shift premium)
Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
12-Hour Night Shifts (Rota Basis - Hours to Be Confirmed)

The Best Connection is recruiting on behalf of our client for a Shift Maintenance Assistant to join a fully refurbished, recycling plant in Sheffield. This is an excellent opportunity to secure a long term position within a modern and fast paced industrial environment.

The Role

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will support the smooth running of plant operations by ensuring all machinery and equipment are maintained to a high standard, reducing downtime and maintaining safety across the facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance and reactive repairs on plant machinery

  • Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults

  • Performing preventative maintenance to maximise operational efficiency

  • Supporting production teams to ensure equipment remains fully operational

  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and adhering to safety procedures

  • Assisting with general site maintenance tasks as required

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous maintenance or mechanical experience within an industrial setting (essential)

  • Experience working with conveyors, eddy current systems, shredders, disc spreaders, or Tomra equipment (advantageous)

  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations

Pay & Benefits:

  • £22.00 per hour (inclusive of night premium)

  • Temp to perm opportunity

  • Majority of Bank Holidays worked and paid

  • Holiday entitlement paid in addition to basic pay at 12.07% premium

  • Pension scheme available (3% employer contribution)
