Summary
The Role
The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of all plant machinery and equipment. You will ensure minimal downtime through efficient fault-finding and high-quality repairs, ensuring that all work is carried out to the highest safety and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repair: Conduct mechanical repairs, installations, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on manufacturing equipment.
Technical Expertise: Utilise skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, fabrication, and welding to solve complex mechanical issues.
Diagnostic Work: Use engineering drawings to identify faults and implement effective, long-term solutions.
Operational Excellence: Support a continuous improvement culture by identifying ways to increase machine efficiency and reliability.
Safety First: Adhere to all Health & Safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
Collaboration: Work effectively within the maintenance team and communicate clearly with production staff to coordinate repairs.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Time Served Mechanical Engineer: (C&G, NVQ, or HNC level).
Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience within a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Fitting, Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Fabrication, and Welding.
Analytical Skills: Strong fault-finding abilities and the ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
Attributes: Hardworking, conscientious, and a strong communicator.
Desirable Skills (The "Extras"):
Basic electrical knowledge.
Certifications: IOSH Working Safely, IPAF, FLT License, or Abrasive Wheels.
Specialised Training: Confined Space – High Risk.
