Summary

About the role:

We are seeking a highly motivated full or part‑qualified accountant to join our management accountancy team. You will lead a team that works closely with services to provide budgetary support and promote a strong culture of financial control and governance. This is a flexible role, working from home, with office attendance required when business needs arise.

There will be a requirement of a presentation on the day of the interview.

About you:

A proactive, self‑motivated accountant who is qualified or in the final stages of qualification, with demonstrable experience in a financial environment.

You will be highly proficient in using finance systems and demonstrate advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

You will be keen to work collaboratively with budget holders, supporting them to build their financial capability.

A solid grounding in budgeting and accounting, with the ability to apply analytical tools and financial techniques to support decision‑making.

You will be skilled at conveying financial information in a clear, accessible manner that maintains engagement from non‑financial colleagues.

What you will do:

Provide clear leadership and management to staff, ensuring they are motivated, well‑supported, and provided with opportunities to develop in their roles.

Ensure budget setting and forecasts are robust

Engage regularly with budget holders, supporting them to fully understand, manage and take responsibility for their budgets and forecasts.

Ensure year‑end accounts are prepared to a high standard and concluded with no outstanding issues.

Grant claims are completed and submitted by deadlines

Statistical analysis and returns, including benchmarking and value for money analysis
