Summary

Location - North Powys
About the role:

The role of Team Manager in our North Assessment Team is to ensure that the work of the team is aligned with the policy and procedural frameworks of the council and is consistent with the relevant legal and regulatory frameworks in their service area. The team manager will be responsible for the operational oversight and activity of the work in the Assessment Team, including managing, supporting and developing qualified Social Workers. The team manager will drive forward good practice and quality assure the work of the team. The Team Manager provide compassionate and supportive leadership which promotes a strength based and restorative approach to the work in the team and develop a supportive and nurturing culture with the child at the centre of everything the team does.

Able to motivate and support staff through high quality supervision and management oversight
Ability to see the bigger picture commitment to wider service area and council objectives
Excellent written and oral skills
What you will do:

Provide regular, high quality monthly supervision as well as day-to-day management oversight and guidance to staff to ensure that children are getting a good service and also to ensure that staff have the skills, training and aptitude to do their work to a good standard.
Create the culture and ethos of the team as being one where staff are co-operative, collaborative and work as a team to improve the lives of children and young people.
Ensure and enable early identification of risk issues that may need to result in immediate safeguarding action.
Ensure that families are diverted to appropriate agencies where the threshold criteria are not met for social care intervention.
Ensure swift allocation for Assessment in order to avoid drift and delay and the timely progress of referrals to their conclusion
Work collaboratively and creatively with the wider service to achieve service objectives and drive forward practice and improvement.
