Do you want a role where you can make a real difference to people’s lives while earning a recognised qualification?

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity to join our Strategic Housing Team. Working within the Allocations Team you will assist the council in fulfilling its statutory duties, helping those in housing need to find suitable accommodation via the Hampshire Home Choice Housing Register.

Working within a small team to answer our customers’ queries and complete numerous but essential administrative tasks, working in close collaboration with our wider homelessness and temporary accommodation teams, you will play a vital role to help us to achieve our goals in resolving housing need and allocating suitable and safe homes for our diverse range of customers. After a period of training, you will be trusted to make regular key assessments and decisions in-line with the Hampshire Home Choice Allocations Framework and the council’s Scheme of Allocations on a daily basis.

This 21-month apprenticeship combines hands on experience with formal training to achieve the Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification, with a minimum of 6 hours of each working week dedicated to “off-the-job” training.

You’ll be part of a friendly, positive, proactive and supportive team working together to achieve our goals and provide excellent customer service.

This office-based role is perfect for someone organised, proactive, and passionate about helping people with the ability to work swiftly across multiple tasks, balancing and prioritising workload with good IT literacy.

As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll gain experience across a wide range of Allocations and wider Strategic Housing functions, to include:

- Answering and responding to calls to our duty line, visitors to our reception and customers communicating via email and post.
- Providing a front facing customer service ensuring all customers receive the same quality of service regardless of their differing communication needs.
- Assessing housing applications and housing need.
- Completing many essential administrative tasks of the housing register.
- Working collaboratively with our immediate colleagues in homelessness, temporary accommodation but also, external housing providers, the wider housing department at the council and external partner agencies.

The successful candidate will be supported to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to be able to undertake all aspects of this role.
