Summary
Exciting opportunities are being developed to work within the Emergency Department at Dorset County Hospital. We would like to invite experienced band 6 staff from within the Emergency Department who feel are ready to lead a team of Band 6, Band 5 and band 3 staff and support the senior leadership team with emergency work.
We are looking for enthusiastic Band 6's who are organised and can use their own initiative whilst being flexible to frequently changing situations, to work with and support the Registered Nurses/Paramedics and Healthcare Assistants in the Emergency department where you will be supporting the team with maintaining the high standards of patient care, flow and quality assurances required to maintain a safe and effective ED.
This is a permanent position and would require communication with a range of health professionals in relation to patient admission and discharge.
There will be an expectation of the applicants to possess excellent communication skills to support the working of the team with internal and external agencies and, fellow professionals to support safe, effective patient discharges from hospital and assistance with patient flow by avoiding hospital admission.
The Senior leader is an experienced senior Nurse/AHP whose key duties will include, leading, co-ordinating and delivering high quality, complex patient care, managing team performance, resources and working within budget and implementing service improvements.
The post holder will use collaborative and independent judgement to assess, and act as an expert providing advice and ensuring evidence based care is delivered.
Managing the day to day running of the Emergency Department, ensuring compliance with standards (CQC) and managing resources effectively.
Supervising, mentoring and developing nursing staff, ensuring high quality patient centred care. This includes managing team performance and supporting staff through change.
Identifying and acting on clinical risks, leading audits and ensuring compliance with NICE guidelines.
Serving as a strong advocate, liaising between patients, families and the MDT to ensure personalised care.
