Summary
Role Purpose
Harmony House is seeking an experienced, values-driven Registered Manager to lead our two-bed children’s residential home supporting young people with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
This pivotal leadership role is responsible for delivering safe, trauma-informed, therapeutically aligned care. You will provide both strategic and operational leadership, ensuring excellence in safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
As Registered Manager, you will be accountable for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the home, ensuring standards not only meet but exceed regulatory and organisational expectations. You will create a culture where young people flourish and achieve positive outcomes, and where staff feel supported, developed and empowered to deliver exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
• Provide visible, compassionate leadership modelling trauma-informed, child-centred practice.
• Foster a reflective culture of high expectations, accountability and inclusion.
• Promote staff resilience, wellbeing and continuous professional development.
Compliance & Quality
• Maintain full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
• Ensure timely statutory notifications, Regulation 44/45 compliance and Ofsted readiness.
• Lead robust quality assurance processes including audits and action planning.
• Maintain up-to-date policies, risk assessments and contingency plans.
Safeguarding & Risk
• Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead.
• Embed strong safeguarding culture and safer recruitment practice.
• Manage complex risks including exploitation, missing from care and self-harm.
• Oversee incident reporting, debriefs and reduction of restrictive practices.
Outcomes for Children
• Oversee high-quality, individualised care planning aligned with EHCPs and Placement Plans.
• Promote participation through children’s meetings, advocacy and restorative practice.
• Drive progress in education, health, identity and independence skills.
• Promote positive family relationships in line with care plans.
Staffing & Development
• Ensure safe staffing, rota management and effective on-call systems.
• Lead recruitment, induction, supervision and performance management.
• Deliver training pathways including safeguarding and trauma-informed practice.
• Support staff to achieve Level 3 qualifications and progression to Level 5.
Operational & Financial
• Manage budgets, occupancy and financial controls effectively.
• Maintain high standards of health & safety and a nurturing environment.
• Build strong partnerships with commissioners and professionals.
• Lead service improvement and development initiatives.
Essential Requirements
• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
• 2–3 years’ management experience in residential childcare.
• Strong knowledge of Children’s Homes Regulations, KCSIE, Working Together, GDPR and H&S legislation.
• Proven safeguarding leadership and Ofsted inspection experience.
• Experience managing teams and budgets.
• Strong understanding of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
Desirable
• Previous Ofsted Registered Manager experience (EBD preferred).
• Experience implementing therapeutic models (e.g., PACE, TCI, NVR).
• Experience with complex or crisis placements.
• Strong data literacy and KPI monitoring.
• Full UK driving licence.
