About the role

As our Health & Safety Advisor, you will help make sure we meet all health and safety laws and keep our people, customers and contractors safe. You will cover the Kent and Sussex area, working closely with managers and contractors to make sure health and safety is planned properly and managed well on site. You will also work closely with the other Health & Safety Advisor to provide cover and support each other when needed.

You will carry out site inspections and audits across construction projects, repairs, high-rise buildings and offices. When you spot risks or issues, you will work with the relevant teams to make sure they are put right quickly. You will check risk assessments and method statements, and make sure contractors are meeting their health and safety responsibilities.

You will investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, identify the root cause, and recommend actions to stop them happening again. You will also produce reports on contractor performance and provide assurance that standards are being met. From time to time, you will support or deputise for the Head of Health, Safety & Facilities Management and help promote a strong, positive health and safety culture across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

A good standard of education, with good literacy and numeracy, and able use Microsoft Office well.
Able to use database systems to extract data and make reports.
Health and Safety qualifications equivalent to NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
A good knowledge and practical experience of working in a construction / general health and safety role, with evidence of providing health and safety support to construction projects.
Experience of inspecting a range of project types including new build construction projects, repairs, small projects, High Rise Blocks, offices and working with contractors and site management.
A thorough technical knowledge of CDM, asbestos, working at height, fire, electricity, and a knowledge of landlord duties required.
Able to conduct accident investigations including root cause analysis.
To be customer focused, for both internal and external customers.
