Career Graded Role – with a structured development pathway designed to support you in achieving a Level 4 qualification
Colchester Borough Homes (CBH), an award winning organisation owned by Colchester City Council, has been supporting local communities since 2003. We manage and maintain around 7,000 residential properties across the Borough, providing safe, well maintained homes and high quality services for our tenants. Our work is varied, people centred, and focused on improving places and lives.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer focused Assistant Asset Manager (Adaptations) to join our Asset Management Team.
This is a challenging and rewarding position, ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, solving problems, and helping to deliver a positive experience for customers.
You’ll provide day to day support across a range of activities including housing improvements, adaptations, and property related projects. You will work closely with tenants, colleagues, occupational therapists, and contractors to ensure that works are well coordinated, clearly communicated, and carried out to a high standard.
As this is a career graded role, you will be supported through a structured development framework, helping you gain experience and build towards achieving a Level 4 qualification. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a long term career in property services and customer focused asset management.
What You Will Bring
We are looking for someone who is:
• Customer service driven, with a genuine commitment to delivering excellent
support to our tenants.
• A clear and confident communicator, able to explain processes, manage
expectations, and build rapport with a wide range of people.
• Organised and reliable, able to manage appointments, record information
accurately, and support the smooth delivery of improvement and adaptation
works.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 tools, including Outlook, Excel, Word and
SharePoint.
• Willing to learn, with the motivation to grow your skills and progress through the
career graded structure.
• Able to travel, with a full UK driving licence and continuous access to a car.
• (Technical knowledge of property, repairs, or regulations is helpful but not essential
full training, guidance and support will be provided.)
Who You Are
• A team player who enjoys working with others, but who can also work
independently when required.
• Someone with strong people skills, capable of dealing with enquiries, helping to
resolve complaints, and supporting tenants through what can sometimes be
challenging circumstances.
• A calm, patient and solutions focused individual with a positive approach to
problem-solving.
• Someone who is committed to CBH’s values and to making a meaningful
difference for our residents.
What We Offer
We offer a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
• Local Government Pension Scheme with a generous 20.8% employer contribution
• Excellent training, development and progression opportunities
• 23 days’ annual leave, rising to 26 after 5 years, plus bank holidays and two
additional company Christmas holidays
• Option to buy up to 5 extra days’ leave
• Access to the Employee Assistance Programme
• Employee Benefits Platform
• Smartphone and laptop provided
• Discounted gym membership at Leisure World and Northern Gateway
• One paid volunteering day per year
• Free flu jab
• Agile working arrangements to support flexibility about when, where and how we
