Summary

Job Title: Director of Quality

Location: Remote (home-based with travel)
Hours: 35 hours per week

Interview Process:

Interviews will take place in several stages. An informal interview, along with stakeholder panel and People We Support/family panel interviews, will be held during the week commencing 23 March 3 separate days. Final interviews are scheduled for the early April.

United Response is seeking an experienced and values-driven Director of Quality, to lead our approach to assurance and improvement across 366 places we deliver support in England and Wales. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our mission.

You will provide strategic leadership and oversight to ensure the highest standards of quality, safety, and clinical governance across the organisation. You will be accountable for driving continuous improvement, strengthening assurance frameworks, and embedding a strong culture of quality and risk management to support excellent outcomes for the people we support.

Your responsibilities will include leading a comprehensive quality assurance framework encompassing service observation, audit, adverse event analysis, data triangulation, coaching, and ensuring consistent compliance with organisational standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously enhance the organisation’s quality, risk, and clinical governance frameworks
  • Ensure robust systems for assurance, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Provide expert oversight of audits, inspections, incident management, and learning processes
  • Use data and insight to inform strategic decision-making and improve outcomes
  • Influence and engage stakeholders across large, multidisciplinary teams, including frontline colleagues and senior leaders
  • Ensure compliance with current health and social care legislation and regulatory standards

What We Are Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in healthcare, social care, governance, or risk management, or a postgraduate qualification in healthcare or quality-related disciplines
  • Significant senior-level experience in quality, clinical governance, or risk management within health or social care settings
  • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance, regulation, audit processes, and data analysis
  • Proven ability to influence behaviour and drive improvement across complex, multi-disciplinary organisations
  • A comprehensive understanding of current health and social care legislation
  • Ideally, knowledge of the PBS competency framework, standards of practice, and trauma-informed care

Desirable Criteria

  • A postgraduate qualification in leadership, governance, quality, or risk management
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. Institute of Risk Management, Chartered Quality Institute)
