A rare Sous Chef role with structure, creativity and genuine work-life balance has become available.

This operation based in Cornwall is an established, family-run luxury events retreat set across 14 acres of countryside near the Devon border. They operate all year round, hosting beautifully planned multi-day events and private celebrations for up to 140 guests.

Unlike traditional restaurant kitchens, their events are booked and planned well in advance. That means:

• Structured prep time
• Predictable service days
• No last-minute covers
• No unpredictable walk-ins
• Thoughtful menu development
• Time to plan properly

This is an ideal role for a strong Sous Chef who wants creativity without chaos and the opportunity to work in a calm, well-organised environment.

The Role

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with our Head Chef to deliver exceptional food across our events programme. You will:

• Support the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• Lead service in the Head Chef’s absence
• Assist with menu development and seasonal changes
• Maintain high standards of hygiene, organisation and presentation
• Help train and support junior team members

Theie guests stay on site for two nights and catering includes welcome meals, breakfasts, canapés, evening feasts and the main event dining experience.

This is an events-led role — precision, preparation and teamwork are key.

✔ Events planned months (sometimes years) ahead
✔ Open all year – stable, permanent role
✔ Family-run business with strong values

• Excellent organisational skills
• High standards of food safety and cleanliness

• Pension
• Staff meals
• Free on-site parking
• Staff events
• Year-round, permanent employment
• A structured working environment with genuine work-life balance
