Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Fellow to take an active role in the design, development and execution of clinical trials of a new investigational vaccine against tuberculosis. This position is based at the Jenner Institute within the Nuffield Department of Medicine and will also include involvement in clinical trials undertaken in Uganda and Senegal with the same candidate vaccine and clinical cross cover with ongoing trials in the group, including SARS-CoV-2 and BCG challenge studies.
You will play an active role in the design and execution of clinical trials of tuberculosis vaccines in Oxford and plan, direct and undertake clinical delivery of research work in both tuberculosis and SARS-CoV-2 studies. You will be responsible for the screening, vaccination and challenge of volunteers according to the protocol and provide technical advice and training for research staff relevant to the implementation of the research, in accordance with the protocol, ethics approval, SOPs and international guidelines. Other duties will include being on call as needed, and maintaining complete and accurate study files.
It is essential that you hold a medical degree and are GMC registered, currently qualified and licensed to practice medicine in the UK. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to be comfortable and confident interacting with volunteers in a research study, clinical research co-ordinators, team members, laboratory and administrative staff, monitors, collaborating company representatives, MHRA auditors and the broader research community. Experience of clinical research, including ethics and understanding of Good Clinical Practice is highly desirable for this role.
