Desian Education and proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based single form-entry primary school in Runcorn as they are looking to appoint a resilient and experienced teaching assistant to support a male year 6 pupil on a 1:1 basis.
This is an extremely supportive and welcoming school with a very “hands on” head teacher that requirement an extremely resilient teaching assistant to support a year 6 pupil with profound behavioural needs, although not physically violent, this pupil can be extremely verbally challenging. You will offer comprehensive 1:1 support to your pupil throughout the school day as to assist in building strong rapport with them, which in turn will aid in the promotion of positive behaviours. As your pupil is prone to outbursts you will be required to implement a vast array of positive behaviour strategies that your pupil best responds to, not to only promote positive behaviours but to equip them to strategies to self-regulate in later life. Other core duties will include:
• Positive behaviour strategies including movement breaks, brain breaks, positive reinforcement, etc
• Interventions and boosters in core subjects including SATS
• Liaison with welfare and SENCO on pupil progress
• Working in collaboration with external professionals
What you need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full “Right to Work” in the UK, be willing to undergo full DBS screening and:
• Have relevant referenceable experience working with children between the ages of 5 - 11
• Experience supporting behavioural needs is highly advantageous
• Experienced implementing positive behaviour strategies within a classroom setting
• Be able to commit to a full-time long-term contract
