Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an extremely supportive and well-established mainstream primary school in Widnes that has a fantastic reputation within the borough as they are looking to appoint an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary position. Within this role, you will be supporting an extremely loving female pupil within the reception class that has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. This pupil is fairly independent and doesn't require any personal care, but does struggle with integration due to their needs. They can also at times present challenging behaviours and become disengaged. This is not a personal attack but a means of communication.
You will act as their main point of contact throughout the school day, giving accurate feedback to the class teacher, parents/guardians, and the SENCO. Other duties will include:
- Speech and language development: PECS, Makaton and basic SALT
- Implementing positive behaviour strategies
- Sensory stimuli
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, relevant referenceable experience supporting children and young people with profound needs, and:
- Experience working with ASD and/or non-verbal
- Experience using Makaton and/or PECs
- Be able to commit to a full-time temporary contract (32.5 hours per week)
- Have an NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
What you'll get in return
If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of amazing benefits, that include:
- Free training
- Upfront cost of DBS covered
- Long-term contract
- Company pension scheme
- Full holiday entitlement
- Competitive rate of pay
