Summary
Staffline are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 2 driver for a client based in Kettlethorpe, Wakefield WF2.
This role will be a 13 week temp to perm for the right candidate and is guaranteed work.
Core hours Sunday to Thursday between 17:00 - 03:00, with a degree of flexibility required to meet the demands of the business.
The PAYE rates for this role are;
£15.90 per hour and £16.90 per hour after 44.25 hours.
Your Time at Work
The role will include loading your own vehicle using a scanner, loading pallets, hanging rails and cartons. Average 5-7 drops per shift. Deliveries are regional. Please be aware this role is quite a physical position and the workload can be demanding. You may also be required to lock up after yourself at some delivery points.
Assessments available ASAP, followed by an induction and 1-2 weeks buddy shifts to make sure you are comfortable with the role before going on your own.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting daily walk round checks on vehicle and trailer to ensure roadworthyness, observing and communicating any defects and completing relevant documentation
- Loading and unloading vehicle, accurately scanning delivery stock and returns and completing relevant documentation
- Observing and ensuring load security. Using appropriate load restraints to secure load and ensuring vehicle and equipment are safe for travel
- Driving the vehicle safely with consideration for vehicles, pedestrians and vunerable road users
- Driving the vehicle in accordance with the law, EU Drivers hours regulations, and the Road Transport Working Time directive
- Communicating any delays or issues to the relevant persons
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle and equipment, internally and externally
- Accessing unmanned stores, locking them back up and re-arming alarms following delivery

- Access & egress of Vehicle
- Closing and opening of barn / roller doors
- Strapping and securing load
- Lifting / manual handling
- Moving loaded cages and mobile rails
- Walking from Truck to delivery access point, can be some reasonable distances
- Operating tail lifts
Our Perfect Worker
- You must hold a valid Class 2 licence and a valid Digital Tachograph Card
- You must hold a valid Driver Qualification Card (Driver CPC).
- You must have a minimum of 12 months experience
- You must have be a reliable driver looking for a long term position
- You must be happy to work in a physically demanding role
