Summary

This role provides technical knowledge and advice to enable day to day management and support of the DVSA internet services (IBS and OBS) and other core Driver’s services systems.

The post holder will be closely involved with system developments from the initial specification and requirements gathering, through to rigorous system testing prior to release.

Additionally, the post holder will identify, progress and prioritise issues and defects relating to the live systems.

The role holder will work in a team that manages the DVSA’s practical test online services by managing changes, providing workarounds to system defects, and working with 3rd party suppliers to maintain system performance. They will be a subject matter expert when contributing to customer support enquiries and when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Ensure smooth running of the systems and monitor performance using monitoring tools, analytics tools, and customer feedback processes
  • Provide responses to customer support / correspondence for system related complaints / queries
  • Take responsibility for changes and improvements to the systems, so that they provide good and/or improved user experience and value for money.
  • Plan and manage the testing of system changes and fixes prior to release
  • Maintain and develop web accessibility and usability standards for DVSA online services using information from internal sources, external sources and GDS etc
  • Direct line management of a Web Systems Administrator and team below on a day-to-day basis including monitoring individual performance and driving personal development
