Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the operational management team at The Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust, located in North-East London.

The Major Trauma and Plastic Surgery Departments are seeking a new Service Manager to oversee the day-to-day management and operational delivery of our high-quality, patient-centered services. This role will play a critical part in driving forward an ambitious service improvement agenda, ensuring the delivery of world-class care to our patients.

This is a 12-month maternity cover role, available as a fixed-term contract or secondment. The Service Manager will be a key figure in the directorates' leadership team, responsible for the operational and performance management of services provided at The Royal London Hospital. You will contribute to achieving NHS constitutional standards, support the elective recovery programme, and lead service improvements that enhance both patient and staff experiences.

This role offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development, with real autonomy and responsibility, all within a supportive and dynamic clinical and managerial leadership team.

If you are an aspiring leader with experience in healthcare management, a proven track record in service improvement, and a passion for patient care, we would love to hear from you.

The Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. The key aims are to:
• Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for Major Trauma and Plastic Surgery services, assisting the General Manager and Service Management Team to ensure that these services are responsive, innovative, and provided to the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
• Drive forward agreed projects to improve service delivery and patient experience in key areas.
• Lead the achievement of performance and quality targets.
• Problem-solve as appropriate and develop and implement sustainable solutions in conjunction with clinical colleagues.
• Be a key member of the Service Management Team, taking full responsibility for actions and ensuring other team members are kept fully informed at all times.

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

We strive to live by our WeCare values and are committed to promoting inclusion, where every staff member has a sense of belonging. We value our differences and fully advocate, cultivate and support an inclusive working environment.

We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates as they are underrepresented within Barts Health at this band.
