Summary
Are you interested in a varied and rewarding career in a speciality area? We have an exciting opportunity for motivated and enthusiastic therapists to join our established team within Burns, Plastics and Hand Therapy.
We currently have a part time vacancy for a band 6 Physiotherapist. The post will give the successful candidates an opportunity to experience all aspects of the speciality including managing both inpatient ward work and outpatients in the speciality of plastic surgery, ENT and head and neck cancer as well as managing both adult and children with burn injuries.
St Andrews is a busy and dynamic trauma unit where there are excellent opportunities to work within a multi-disciplinary team. We have structured supervision and appraisal systems, monthly audit and training days, incorporating regular Journal Clubs.
• To perform specialist therapeutic assessments of patients with diverse plastic surgery needs or burns, involving complex physical and psychological and social problems.
• To provide diagnosis, advice, formulate treatment plans and deliver individualised treatment programmes.
• To be responsible for own caseload and to delegate work to other therapists, assistants, and students.
• To be responsible for the treatment of patients undergoing plastic surgery or burn care in both in-patient and outpatient settings, without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review. Access to advice and support from a senior therapist is available if required but work is not routinely evaluated.
• Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
• To supervise, educate and assess performance of students to a graduate standard, working with the Universities.
• To assist evidence-based audit and research projects. May advise on the implementation of specific changes to practice or contribute to service protocols.
