Crynodeb

Personal Assistant required for an intelligent, gentle twelve‑year‑old autistic girl who lives between Truro and Falmouth.

She experiences anxiety, particularly social anxiety, and has school‑related trauma and sensory needs, so she is looking for someone kind, patient, and consistent who can build a trusting relationship with her.

Support will be 1:1, both in the family home and out in the local community.

She prefers activities that do not feel like education and benefits from calm, low‑pressure environments. Noisy places can be overwhelming, and she finds busy social situations difficult. She can be situationally mute.

She loves animals—especially horses—and takes part in horse riding and stable management as
part of her routine. Somebody who has knowledge of horses would be ideal. She also has a much loved dog. Other favourite activities include arts and crafts, reading, baking, and cycling.

The rate of pay starts at £13.50 per hour and may increase for the right candidate, depending on skills and experience.

Five hours per week are available, with flexibility around when these can be used.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support a young person to grow in confidence, build independence, and enjoy meaningful activities.

Some knowledge or personal experience of working with young people with autism is desirable. A driving licence and access to a vehicle is required. A mileage allowance is payable.

The successful applicant will be employed under a private arrangement with the family, and not be employed or carry out work for Cornwall Council.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All offers of employment will be subject to the successful candidate undertaking an enhanced DBS check, the administration process will be undertaken by Cornwall Council.

If you would like to apply for this role, please send your CV. Alternatively, you can request an application form.

Your CV or application form will be passed onto the family for their consideration. Due to the high number of applicants that are received for various roles, it is not possible to inform applicants if they have been unsuccessful.
