About the Client
London Borough of Bexley’s Children’s Social Care & Safeguarding service provides statutory support to children, young people and families across the borough. The service includes MASH, Referral & Assessment, Family Protection and Child Protection teams, working collaboratively to ensure timely safeguarding responses, robust assessments and effective interventions that promote safety, stability and positive outcomes.

The Role
The Social Worker (CSW3) will work across MASH, Referral & Assessment, Child Protection and Family Protection pathways, undertaking statutory duties in line with legislation, national guidance and local policy. The postholder will manage a varied caseload, complete high‑quality assessments, contribute to multi‑agency safeguarding activity and deliver effective plans that support children and families through early intervention, child in need, child protection and court processes.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake statutory social work tasks across MASH, R&A, CP and FP pathways

Complete high‑quality assessments, including Section 17 and Section 47 enquiries

Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring timely progression and robust risk management

Contribute to MASH decision‑making and multi‑agency information sharing

Develop and implement child‑centred plans that promote safety and wellbeing

Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports for Child Protection Conferences, Legal Planning Meetings and Court

Work collaboratively with partner agencies to safeguard children and support families

Participate in duty systems as required

Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory and local requirements

Ensure practice aligns with legislation, Working Together guidance and Bexley’s safeguarding procedures

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Experience working within MASH, Referral & Assessment, Child Protection or Family Protection

Strong assessment, analysis and risk‑management skills

Ability to work in a fast‑paced, multi‑agency safeguarding environment

Experience managing complex caseloads and delivering statutory interventions

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Commitment to high‑quality, child‑centred practice
