Job Description
Support Worker Music and Worship (24 months contract)
20 hours per week (4 days a week including Sunday mornings)
Salary: £16-18k per annum
This is a time-limited support worker role focused on worship and music ministry,
in a residential community.
We have a vision for our whole community church family to live life to the full.
The Support Worker Music and Worship role will support our lead pastor in developing a worshipping community in Moggerhanger Park. For us, that means growing in the following areas:
● A passion to follow Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit and to work
towards his coming Kingdom
● A passion for supporting Spirit-filled contemporary worship
● Ability to see, follow and support others in what the Holy Spirit is doing
● A passion for supporting a new generation in worship
● Passion for the vision & purpose of SCC and Moggerhanger Park
● Able to demonstrate a mature discipleship in Jesus
● Everyone welcome - as God shapes us into the community he designed us to
be, we will use all that we have to help others encounter this new life we have
found, life in all its fullness.
We are looking for a follower of Jesus that is passionate about hearing the voice of
God for our community in Shalom Community Church, Moggerhanger Park and
Supporting our Lead Pastor in developing worship with different community groups.
You will be someone who has lived in a community and wants to be involved in community
worship a part of relationships centred around God’s purpose.
You will be experienced in supporting different groups of people in worship and supporting our Lead Pastor to organise and run worship events in the community.
Job Description
Reporting to the Eldership of Shalom Community Church, the main elements of the
role include:
Maintaining personal spiritual growth and being spirit-led
● To be prayerful and to follow the prompting and guidance of the Holy Spirit
● Maintain spiritual disciplines such as studying the Bible, praying, fasting,
worship and fellowship, to ensure personal spiritual growth
Support the Training of Worship and Music leaders
● Support our Lead Pastor in equipping new worship and music leaders
● Support and encourage volunteer worship and music teams by example
Networking
● Support with building relationships with other churches and Christian community groups, primarily at a local level regarding developing a worshipping community.
● Support the development of relationships with local schools and ministries. Explore and support new activities, support with developing ministries to reach local groups who are not currently in contact with the church
Safeguarding
● Supporting the Safeguarding Officer in the implementation safeguarding training,
policies and procedures as directed.
Staff team and development
● Attendance at bi-monthly ministry and leadership meetings as appropriate to the
role
● Attend a bi-weekly one-to-one with the Elders
● Participate in weekly staff prayer meeting
● Engage in continuing ministry-related development by attending identified training.
Person Specification
● Practising Christian; committed to seeking and serving God, living a lifestyle that
sets a good example (it is a genuine occupational requirement for this post to be
filled by a person committed to the Christian faith)
● Experience of the Holy Spirit working in their lives
● Someone who is currently a regular and active member of their existing community
church
Skills
● Enjoys working within the wider community – a good communicator
who can work with different ages and personalities
● Approachable and fun whilst maintaining appropriate boundaries
● An enthusiasm for sharing the gospel
● The ability to work both as part of a team and under their own initiative
● Diplomatic, tactful, a good listener and patient; able to deal with conflict when it
arises
● Capable of engaging at both a personal and wider church level
● Able to work with people from a wide diversity of backgrounds and ages
● Creative and innovative
Qualifications and Experience
● Experience of supporting the development of worship and music in a community setting is essential
Speaks English fluently
● Relevant music qualification or equivalent experience in worship ministry
