Job Purpose
To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Electrical Engineering programmes, enabling learners to achieve their qualifications and develop the technical knowledge, practical competence and employability skills required for progression into industry, apprenticeships or higher education.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging theory and practical sessions in Electrical Engineering (Level 2-Level 4, as required).
Deliver qualifications such as City & Guilds, EAL, BTEC or T Levels in Engineering.
Teach core topics including:
Electrical principles
Installation and maintenance
Fault finding and testing
Electrical machines and power systems
Health & Safety and BS 7671 regulations
Embed English, maths and digital skills within vocational teaching.
Use virtual learning environments (VLEs) and digital tools to enhance delivery.
Assess learner work in line with awarding body standards.
Prepare learners for practical assessments and End Point Assessment (EPA) where applicable.
Maintain accurate and timely records of attendance, progress and achievement.
Participate in internal verification and quality assurance processes.
Contribute to continuous improvement aligned with the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework.
Monitor learner progress and provide targeted interventions where required.
Act as a personal tutor where appropriate.
Support learners with progression into employment, apprenticeships or higher education.
Promote professional behaviours aligned with industry standards.
Contribute to curriculum planning and development to meet local and national skills needs.
Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge and integrate current technologies into teaching.
Develop links with employers and support work placements/apprenticeships.
Ensure workshop and laboratory environments meet Health & Safety legislation and industry standards.
Engage in continuous professional development (CPD).
Comply with safeguarding, Prevent, equality and diversity, and health & safety policies.
Participate in departmental meetings, standardisation and staff development activities.
