Summary
Masstemps are currently recruiting for a Toolroom Machinist on behalf of a company based in Wolverhampton.
The successful candidate will be responsible for manufacturing, modifying, and repairing high-precision tooling, fixtures, and bespoke components within a specialist manufacturing environment. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work to tight tolerances.
Key Responsibilities
Manufacture precision tooling, jigs, fixtures, and bespoke components
Interpret and work from detailed engineering drawings
Operate manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other toolroom equipment
Set and operate CNC machinery where required
Repair, maintain, and modify existing tooling
Ensure all work meets strict quality and tolerance standards
Use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers, and gauges
Work closely with production and engineering teams
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience working within a toolroom environment
Strong knowledge of manual machining processes
Ability to work to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
Experience with surface grinding and precision fitting
Competent in reading and interpreting technical drawings
Good understanding of materials and machining techniques
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
