Summary

Working hours: 18.75 hours per week, working Wed morning, Thursday and Friday (banking 15 minutes per week towards the shutdown at Christmas and New Year)

Harlow Council is looking to recruit a Landlord Liaison Officer to work on a part-time permanent contract. The successful candidate will have excellent negotiation skills and be part of the Housing Options & Advice Team providing private rented housing options, including placements in temporary accommodation, for people in housing need. The Housing Options & Advice Team assists those in housing need and those at risk of homelessness to access a range of accommodation to create long-term sustainable tenancies.

We are looking for a candidate with experience in either tenancy sustainment or property lettings with the ability to work with private landlords and lettings agencies to sustain existing and new landlord relationships. A flair for solving tenancy problems from a landlord’s perspective and an understanding of the private rented sector market. You will be supporting landlords with housing applicants to resolve issues and agree sustainable solutions for their tenancies. You will work together with officers within the team in the prevention of homelessness.

The ideal candidate:

* English & Maths qualification (grades A-C or minimum Level 4 or equivalent).
* Able to demonstrate good literacy, numeracy, and verbal communication.
* Experience in a similar role/environment, preferably within the private rented sector or social housing.
* Experience of developing good relationships between landlords and tenants.
* Will be able to work out of normal office hours on occasion and carry out home visits and property inspections.
